College of Paramedicine

Today the Minister of Health and Wellness, the Hon. Leo Glavine, has introduce a revised Paramedics Act later this week in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly. It would replace the Paramedics Act (Bill 158), which was passed in 2005.Legis_paramedic

The legislation would come into effect on April 1, 2017, at which point paramedicine will become a self-regulated profession. We anticipate it will take that amount of time to establish the College of Paramedicine, and develop policies and protocols, etc.

Paramedics will join 21 other self-regulated health disciplines, reinforcing the high esteem that the public holds for paramedics and our shared goal of enhanced public protection.
